Hi Dharani,
Sorry I think I've confused you with version numbers (hopefully we
can get a major PVFS release out at some point to avoid that). The
bug fix was in pvfs to support older kernels (2.4 and their lack of
the kzalloc function). I was suggesting you try the pvfs-2.6.3
release *with* whatever redhat linux 2.4 kernel you're using.

Sam,
Is this bug specific to redhat kernels (or) this is specific to
linux 2.4 versions. The reason is I am seeing if i can use pvfs
2.6.2 in linux 2.6 redhat kernel (instead of downloading 2.6.3 again).

Dharani

Hi Dharani,
I'm sorry to do this to you, but can you try 2.6.3? It was just
released a moment ago, but it includes a specific fix for this
bug, so that's probably easier than asking you to try a patch with
the fix in it.
Thanks,

I tried loading the pvfs2.o file using insmod (but couldnt). Got
the below message,
src/kernel/linux-2.4/pvfs2.o: unresolved symbol kzalloc
Is there any problem with the created pvfs2.o file?

Hi Dharani,
Penn State CSE! yay! Are you running this on the emperor
cluster (Dr.
Anand's cluster)?
If yes, then it is a redhat9 distro and Sam is correct. You
have to
run configure with --enable-redhat24.

Sam,
I am using a stock kernel. I am using the pvfs-2.6.2.
(Yeah, i added the --disable-redhat24 --->since mine is not
redhat & it
is a stock kernel).

Hi Dharani,
Are you using a stock kernel from a particular distro?
Redhat 9 by chance?
You might need to add --enable-redhat24 to your configure if
so. Which
version of pvfs2 are you trying to build?

Hi,
I am having problem building a pvfs2 kernel module for linux
2.4.20-8.
I got the following when i did make kmod24. Is this a
problem because of
linux kernel version(2.4.20) or something else?
