Yannis: The getattr structure is used to return several different pieces of information, controlled by a mask. If, in fact, you were asking for distribution information in the client io state machine, then the distribution information should be copied from the response structure into the getattr structure when the message pair is returned from the server.
Let me take a closer look at the client-side io state machine and I can tell you exactly where this happens.
