I'm really not sure what the problem is here. A couple posts on some
random forums suggest this might be an issue with the build
environment: libraries might be set up for 32 bit but you're building
64 bit, or vice versa.
What distribution is this?

I had the same problem recently an install I did with PVFS-2.7.0 on Suse 9.1,
x86_64.
Running 'make clean', made the problem go away. I did not investigate
it further.
