I just realized this probably should have headed to the pvfs2-users rather than pvfs-users list.

Hi, All

     Hi All,

I'm new to parallel file systems. i would like to know:
1. Does normal posix calls to pvfs do stipe data across multiple nodes for parallel
         access?
Ex: If a create a file using posix call on a pvfs ( having 3 i/o servers), does the file is striped across 3 nodes?. How to make sure this?

Yes, PVFS (by default) stripes each file across all available servers, even if you use normal POSIX calls. If you want to confirm, you can use the admin utility "pvfs2-viewdist -f <filename>" to look at how a particular file is striped.

     2. If gridftp (striped) can be configured to perform MPI-IO on PVFS?

I am not familiar with configuring gridftp, but it should work fine with PVFS.

thanks,
-Phil

Thanks & Regards,
Prasad
