I have compiled the latest pvfs2.81 smoothly on my powerpc4xx machine with ext3
filesystem. Yesterday I began to test my installation following the PVFS
install
guide.
In the example of a single host configuration, I could easily configure one
server
daemon and start the server.
When I tried existing binaries on PVFS2 to test my installation from
client-side,
the pvfs2 failed to initialize the target file system.
My original thought was that my slow processor (300Mhz powerpc405!!) and
relatively
slow ext3 filesystem were not able to meet those timeout requirements. So I
shut down
my pvfs2 server, changed the 30sec timeout value setting to 300sec and
restarted
the pvfs2 server. However, that does not help at all! It still tried to reach
the
server every 30sec with 5 retries.
I googled the mailing list but got limited information on this. I am curious to
know
the right way to reset the timeout value. Also, how can I fix this problem?
If anyone has seen this before, please give me some hints.
