module from PVFS 2.8.1 will not compile on it.
This is already fixed in CVS and will be available in the upcoming
2.8.2 release.

Oh, cool! I assume we can just do a regular cvs checkout like the
pvfs.org <http://pvfs.org> Support page describes, and then work with
that in the same way as the regular download?
The only notable difference is that you need to install the flex and
bixon packages in order to compile cvs code (the official releases are
pre-processed to avoid this dependency).
If you want to try the cvs version I would recommend the branch that
will be used for the next 2.8 release. Just add "-r pvfs-2-8-branch" to
the cvs checkout command line shown on the support page.
