Fragmentation in the XFS layer may harm your PVFS throughput and IOs
badly. Check the underlying xfs filesystem fragmentation with
xfs_db -r -c "frag" /dev/whatever
If the FS is badly fragmented (say more than 30%), run
xfs_fsr
(you may need several xfs_fsr runs to defragment entirely your FS).
