I have a PVFS cluster of 6 48 TB ( actual space 240 TB) nodes running
since 2008. They have only 8 GB of RAM. This was insufficient at times,
but this was because of a pvfs-client memory leak bug in some old
version (2.7.1).

Though PVFS/OrangeFS is supposedly a crash filesystem, it has
demonstrated excellent reliability and resilience over the years.
Actually fared much better than supposed "HA" systems such as Exanet
over the same period.
