the script only gave me error messages. I am probably too dumb to run
the perl script, but would like to see your recommendation as how to
recover the xc3028 fw.

FORGET IT: I found the fw; don't know what or how but I downloaded the
extract_xc3028.pl script instead of copy and paste and ran and extracted
and and and and....here it is:
