I think Servaas' later reply explains this, but here's an easy thing to verify that it is the case: 1. Run "sudo -s" first. This will give you a root shell over the top of your existing shell. Now within that shell... 2. Do your control operations (e.g. "echo composite >/sys/class/pvrusb2/*/ctl_input/cur_val"). If that works then you were getting had by that file redirection problem.
