No, I hadn't expected any of this to be fixed yet.  Correct handling of 
hot-unplugging is an absolute bear of a task which will require its own 
effort.  The "grab errors" problem I think I understand and which should 
not be too difficult to solve.

The changes with this snapshot were things I needed to get out of the 
way first - clear the deck basically before doing more digging.
