Dear colleagues, We would like to share several updates regarding SSS 2026, the 28th International Symposium on Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems, which will take place on October 9-11, 2026 at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden:
1. New tracks. SSS 2026 now includes two additional tracks intended to broaden the scope of the conference toward emerging directions in distributed computing and dependable systems: * Track D. Distributed Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning * Track E. Real-World Distributed Systems and Operational Challenges We hope that these additions will further encourage interactions between the distributed computing, AI/ML, networking, and systems communities. 2. Keynote speakers. We are also very pleased to announce two keynote speakers: * Petar Popovski (Aalborg University). "Wireless Communication and Sensing as Enablers of Physical AI". The talk will discuss timing, causality, and simultaneity in future wireless systems supporting Physical AI and multimodal inference over heterogeneous communication infrastructures. * Jukka Suomela (Aalto University). "Solid Foundations of Distributed Computing in the AI Era". The talk will explore how modern AI systems and formal verification tools such as Lean and Mathlib are beginning to reshape the foundations of distributed computing research. Additional details are available on the conference website. * Marina Papatriantafilou (Chalmers University of Technology). "Continuous, scalable data processing and summarization for balancing and resilience." The talk will explore energy efficiency, sharing of resources, shared flexibility in the context of data processing and communication pipelines in the edge-cloud continuum. 3. Student scholarships. SSS 2026 will also offer a number of student scholarships, including partial registration-fee waivers and partial travel-expense reimbursement, primarily targeting student authors of accepted papers. The scholarship application period is currently running until July 25, 2026, based on the current submission deadline. 4. Submission deadline. The current paper submission deadline is July 15, 2026. We would be very grateful if you could help circulate this information to interested students, colleagues, and collaborators. We look forward to welcoming you to Gothenburg. Best regards, Sandeep Kulkarni and Elad Michael Schiller SSS 2026 General Co-Chair
