The Squeak side still has a lot of control. Only serving the file is
determined by the other server.

Right. But, a different browser might better indicate the problems.
I am wondering if this is a firewall problem that you are not allowed to
send POST requests or the like. Try to inspect the request and see if
(request text) is there as it needs to be.
You may want to send an e-mail to SQC's Andreas to ask him about an
enhanced networking VM for Windows.
