Hi Mark thanks for your reply.
I did 'help' on the pws majordomo to see if I could check my settings
and it offered no way to see if I would receive my replies back. So I
never knew if it made it to the pws list or not.
My definition of scalable in this context is simple. If I develop a
website with Squeak/Comanche and it starts receiving a large volume of
hits, how would Squeak/Comanche handle it? If my website began to suffer
due to the volume of hits, what options do I have? Add another machine?
Get a faster machine? Get a machine with more processors?
Can it handle being Slashdotted? What if a Squeak site became the next
Yahoo or 'big thing'.
I have been to the site below and many, many others including,
http://comanche.swiki.net . It is difficult to come to an understanding
of the situation. There isn't a lot of documentation or information. I
went to the PWS archives and it only gave me from January to March. I
sent an 'index pws' to the majordomo and there aren't any. So I could
get any archives that way.
The reason I am wanting to know is because I am about to begin
development. I do not know Squeak/Smalltalk. I am interested in finding
out from those who do, some information which would help me to determine
if it's current status is worth me investing time to learn
Squeak/Smalltalk.
I anticipate a high volume website with million(s) of hits per day. As
usual, only putting it up and time will tell. :)
Thanks again for any information you can provide for my decision.
