I don't know. My only guess is that networking is not set up for the Mac.
I had that problem once. Does it work with older versions?

Yes. You can just move the new Swikis you have created into swiki
directory and that is fine. Only if they are pre-Beta 11 swikis will you
have to run the convert method.
