Bite it, I'd say. I find it so convenient that I can go in and tweak stuff
through VNC, that I've never even considered figuring out how to start Squeak
in headless mode. It's easy enough to configure (install VNC, start vncserver,
and do:
#!/bin/sh
export DISPLAY=:1
export XAUTHORITY=/home/cg/.Xauthority
nohup squeak -fullscreen ./squeak.image >/tmp/squeak.log 2>&1
and you're all set) and doesn't require a lot of overhead.
