I'm glad you brought this up as I was just about to post something
about it. Before I go into what I was going to say, I want to say
that this is fixed in SVN. So here's the question... Who's
responsibility is it to send an away message back to the sender?
It's not the OSCAR server's responsibility, that's a definite. So is
it the client? Yes, but here's the problem. PyAIM is a client. So
is your jabber client. Who's supposed to say "I'm away doofus."? I
could probably answer this question myself, but is a jabber client
expected to spit back it's away message or not? Is it expected that
the only way you get an away message is if you look at the presence
of the person? Here's the situation I don't want to happen:

- I set myself Away
- PyAIM hears this and if someone IM's me, it'll spit back my away
message to
them and sent the message they sent on through to me
- My jabber client says "oh I'm away, I gotta tell this person" and
sends ANOTHER
   away message.

The thing about this scenario is... I -want- PyAIM to do this. Why?
Because AIM messages have a special flag that can say "this is an
auto response" that I want to turn on. So I suppose my question for
you all is, is a jabber client supposed to spit back an away message
or not?

Anyway, Adam, to answer your question, I've implemented this in SVN
and it'll be in the 0.7 release.
