Check that you can make outgoing connections on port 1863 and 443
without using a proxy.
Specifically you should be able to browse HTTPS websites without a
proxy, and you should be able to connect to port 1863 on
messenger.hotmail.com using this command
telnet messenger.hotmail.com 1863
