Really? That's sort of surprising. Doesn't ICQ handle all of that stuff on their servers? It's been a long time since I've mucked around with ICQ's protocols--since long before the ICQ-AIM merger in fact--but I can't imagine the weird security model that leaves such auth to the client. Can someone who knows the protocols explain how this happened?
