Thanks for the hint. The problem was that my password is 20 characters long, and MSN allows only 16. When registering I typed it in the password field without noticing the last 4 letters were cut off. Pidgin/MSN seems to automatically cut them off for me, Jabber doesn't. Thanks for the help.
