Are you using the "MXit libPurple Plugin" (written by MXit) or the "Pidgin
MXit Protocol Plugin" (written by ralf)?

I believe that ralf's plugin will let you set (and hopefully get) the "misc"
value. (it should be a long code starting with 24)

Unfortunately I don't have any testing accounts at hand as my development pc
is offline at the moment.
