Hi,

I don't think there's a difference in .zips between linux + windows since 
they're
java files, after all.

It's been a while since I've installed any plugins by hand, but I believe the
correct way to do that is to:

(1) Quit Eclipse
(2) Unzip the *.zip archives you have into the directory that you have created
on your desktop
(3) Move the files that were unzipped from the archive into your
/path/to/eclipse/plugins directory.
(4) Fire up eclipse.

That *should* do it ... I'm not 100% sure, however. I'm also not sure where
eclipse is installed on Linux ... inside the directory that it's installed 
(maybe
/usr/local/eclipse ?) is the plugins folder I'm referring to.
