This is a feature I would really like and, AFAIK, it's missing -- I'm rather
baffled about its lack in Eclipse as a whole..

Our coding standard "advice" is to remove trailing white space from the line
end.

This ease the use with diffing tools, revision control systems and the like.

I would love to have an option to have this kind of feature. This could well
be the standard behaviour.
