I unchecked the box "use code completion" in the code completion menu under Pydev preferences, it appeared to make no difference. Code completion windows still popped up. I eventually solved the problem by setting the code completion delay really high. I don't usually mind code completion, but in Pydev the completion window appears OVER the code I am currently typing, making it so that I cannot see the words I am typing.
