This is a shot in the dark as I am on an Windows machine and had this issue with Data Tools Platform' (DTP) plugin but it might work in your situation as well so worth to try it.
I run eclipse under a limited permission account --- the only way I could get DTP to install properly was to move Eclipse folder to my Desktop folder for which I have full permissions for. Even submitted a bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=358508 See if that fixes your issue --- and if it does I would suggest you submit a bug report here: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/ Also just checked in the #eclipse irc channel and someone suggested this info: http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/reference/misc/multi_user_installs.html Tell me how it works out for you.
