Are you asking in regards to networking? If so, python comes with a socket module that allows you to connect and then use the socket by read/write operations A tutorial on sockets: http://www.amk.ca/python/howto/sockets/ This also allows you to use the pickle module to send objects over the network (makes it easy to get started with)
