Hello, friends of pyglet.

Interest has really spiked in the last couple of weeks (1000
downloads, 100 mailing list members), so I thought now would be a
good time to fill everyone in on where things are at and where
they're going in the next few months.

Currently we're in an alpha release, which means the current feature
set is fixed, and only API changes and bug fixes are being applied.
There are quite a few bug fixes in the SVN trunk compared to the
latest download, as well as partially-complete audio implementations
for DirectSound (Windows) and ALSA (Linux).

When the audio implementations are complete and bug reports have
dropped to a reasonable rate I'll put together a Beta release. This
release will be announced for the first time outside of this mailing
list, with the intention of broadening the number of platforms tested
before a final 1.0 release.

Unfortunately I can't give any specific timelines for when things
will happen: pyglet has no relation to mine or Richard's real-world
occupations, so development time is restricted to our spare time.
Most of the current issues (besides the documentation and enhancement
ones) are intractable as far as I can tell and won't be fixed.
Anyone with specific knowledge in these areas with ideas or a fix may
be hailed as a minor hero :-)

There are some big plans for features in pyglet 1.1 and later, stay
tuned... (add comments to the wiki page at http://code.google.com/p/
pyglet/wiki/ReleaseSchedule if you have your own wish list).

Don't forget that you can subscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Cheers
Alex.

P.S. It's "pyglet", not "Pyglet" :-)
