ImageGrid and pyglet.image.Animation comes to mind.

Also I consider "based on pyglet" as a plus point for cocos simply because 
I like pyglet. I recently switched over from only using pygame, pyglet / 
cocos feels so much more powerful, clean and modern in comparison.
