No feedback when I remove "... and len(device.axis) >= 3"

printing the cursor list gives me:
[XInputTabletCursor(Wacom Cintiq 13HD Pen stylus), XInputTabletCursor(Wacom
Cintiq 13HD Pad pad), XInputTabletCursor(Wacom Cintiq 13HD Pen eraser)]

I'm not quite sure how to check if the controls are being detected and
created correctly however, so no data on your forth option.
