I wonder if we should move to GitHub, and use Travis for testing?
This would allow us to test with various Python and Postgres versions:

Does that mean moving to git? I really think that Subversion works for
us. Also, didn't some repository site just go away suddenly leaving
everyone to scramble for a new location?

Github also supports Subversion clients,
https://help.github.com/articles/support-for-subversion-clients/
but it's an afterthought and I'm not sure how reasonable that is.

Actually for larger refactorings and experiments, Git would be quite useful, because branching is much cheaper and can be done locally. You only need to check in when ready. Merging is also much easier.

I don't think Github will go away any time soon, it has become the de facto standard for nearly everyone.

An alternative would be to keep the central Subversion repository as the authoritative source, and I will just run my private Github repository and keep both in sync. Usually there is not much going on, so this would be no problem. This will also help people send in pull requests, and we can better integrate with Travis and readthedocs.
