For the message box problem, you can use the GtkWindow.set_transient_for()
method (I think you would need to upgrade gnome-python for this). This
sets some hints on the message box, so your window managerknows who owns
the message box. With fvwm, this includes iconising the message box with
the main window, and keeping the message box on top of the window it is
transient for.
This is probably the effect you are looking for.
As for how the gnome-python-0.90 snapshot works, I haven't tested it with
the tarballs, but it should work with the updated tarballs (and RPMS?). I
can say that I will have a working release for gnome-libs-1.0 (which will
go with gtk-1.2 I think).
