The C/Gtk+ documentation is still missing a lot of this information.  To
understand the behavior of certain arguments, I find it helpful to play with
GLADE:

    http://glade.pn.org/

GLADE is a graphical Gtk+ GUI builder and as such has forms to enter values for
widget arguments.  Some of the forms even have preset values.  I think some
Gnome widgets are in the latest version too.
