This usually occurs when you don't exit from X/gnome cleanly. An old
authentication token is left in the ~/.ICEauthority file, so when a
program tries to connect to the session manager, it fails.
To fix it, delete the ~/.ICEauthority file and restart X. This is not
really a pygtk problem, but a session management one.
