[pygtk] calling back into python from C

I'm getting segfaults when doing a PyObject_CallFunction() from a
C/GTK+ value_changed signal handler on an adjustment.  My top-level
program is written in pygtk.  Can anyone think of anything likely to
cause this (threading related, for example)?  I'm using pygtk-0.6.3
and python-1.5.2 with threads.
