I have the checkbox unchecked, and since I installed Helix GNOME 1.2 all the gnome
apps that run from the terminal ( some of them written by me, and I don't do anything
especial to ask for sound) complain that they can't access /dev/dsp.
There's no support for my soundcard in the Linux kernel, but I don't need that the
apps remind me it all the time :(.
