[pygtk] changing colors of container type widget

Greetings,

        Wonder if anybody could tell me which steps should I follow to
change the bg/fg color of container type widgets ?

I know how to get style ( myWidget.get_style() ) but after this step, it
seems that fg, bg, ... cannot be changed !?
