Ah that would be why it's not working then ;-)

What confused me is that the get_hadjustment method shows up in the GtkText class 
definition according to my pygtk 0.6.7 - is this a bug or my misunderstanding?

Is there then a widget that does support horizontal scrolling, just for
completeness.
