Probably not. It seems like the calendar callbacks are quite poor in
this respect; check out if there are any other signals that are usable
by you here:

Note that if you don't find a solution (I'm hoping you do) you *should*
file a bug against GTK+'s Calendar widget, explaining your problem and
perhaps proposing an API addition or signal signature change.
