This test file appears to trigger the same bug. Still tracking down exactly how. In my real program, it seems to be when the signal_autoconnect() is called, but this version takes 10 tries and then dies? Program works for me under Linux (Python 2.2 with latest pyGTK)

Ok, so it's not related to threading. It may be related to me trying to upgrade GTK and Python to the latest versions instead. I've been looking for a gtkrc file and not finding one. GKT should still ship with one, right? If it's missing, do the fonts all go away?

gtkrc should be in /Program Files/Common Files/GTK/2.0/etc/gtk-2.0 if you use the dropline installer. Please try to reinstall the GTK+ runtime and test pygtk with one of the examples in the pygtk source tarball.
