Hi,

I would like to be able to select a region from the displayed pixbuf
image, store it's coordinates and display a frame around the selected
region.

It seems that I can make a drawing area and monitor the mouse events,
start drawing a rectangle on the mouse button press, constantly redraw the
rectangle as the mouse moves, and then fix that frame after the mouse
button is released. Am I on the right track?

How do I prevent my draing area from blocking the picture? Is there any
code snippet that implements it, like rubberband function available
in other toolkits, or do I have to reinvent the wheel?

Thanks for any help,
Alex
