I think it works fairly well on win32 as well. On OS X an X Windows System (X11) server is required as gtk2 has not been ported. This is included on the OS X install disc, and it's easy to install and run, but it's not something I'd expect the average Mac user to be particularly comfortable with. Wxpython supposedly has native look and feel on the Mac, but the one wxpython app I run on my Mac, Audacity, doesn't look altogether quite right to my eyes.
