According to http://www.async.com.br/faq/pygtk/index.py?req=show&file=faq22.003.htp I shouldn't need to call gtk.glade.bindtextdomain and friends. However I recently noticed that it does need to be called explicitly (python 2.4, pygtk2.8) http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344926
