Yes, the FAQ is slow and sometimes it does not respond.
You could set up a mirror. But be sure that the link to "edit" resolves

The FAQ can be updated by several people. If you
convert it to a different format, your version will be outdated
the next day.
Nevertheless I think the FAQ could be updated. I think stuff about
gtk 0.x and 1.x can be removed.

Maybe creation of simple wiki with some scripts that would generate offline copy of always current version in various formats would be enough? Links to those scripts can appear in e.g. "download" section. If someone managed to write something like that I could think about hosting it on nice server.
