Hello everybody,

I have developed a nice application using pyGTK, that currently work
on linux, and I'm trying to port it to win32... It requires python2.6
(mainly because I used the string.format() method).

This app use the python bindings of gtksourceview and goocanvas. I
have found win32 binaries for gtk2, and pyGTK2, gtksourceview and
goocanvas, but I couldn't find a suitable bin for pygoocanvas and
pygtksourceview (the ones on ftp.gnome.org are compiled against
python2.5, and I use 2.6...).

So, I've set up a MinGW/MSys installation to build pygoocanvas and
pygtksourceview, but they need development files (headers and
package-config) for pycairo, pygobject, pygtk... I didn't find these
files on ftp.gnome.org...

My questions:
 * Do have I to compile pygobject/pycairo/pygtk to be able to compile
pygoocanvas and pygtksourceview, or is there an alternative ?

 * To compile pygobject/pycairo/pygtk, what are the recommended
versions and configure switches ?

 * More generally, what are the pro and cons of "compile your own" vs.
"use binaries" in this situation ?

Thank you for your help,

Rémi Pannequin
