Florian, Many thanks for the py26win branch. It's the only thing that allowed me to successfully deploy my application from Python 2.6 on Win XP. It's a shame this is a separate branch, however, do you have an idea when it's going to make it into the trunk? Python 2.6 gains more and more popularity and Pyinstaller is especially important for Windows apps.
