versionInfo.py to use pefile. This is however still not finished and the

Yes that sounds like a good idea. It would allow us to remove lots of
code that we need to maintain.
I will try running tests with your changes on 64bit win7.
Let me know when you are done. I will merge and close branch w64 afterwards.
I would like to release PyInstaller 1.5-rc1 this weekend, so that we can
go final in the following week.
