Just because IMHO it's worth a larger step instead of +0.1 :-)

I assume it will become more time-consuming to implement py3k support. I would prefer to release 2.0 early, because of all the changes we already implemented are worth the release. When waiting for py3k support, this will delay 2.0 release.
