I'd be very glad if somebody could help me with following two things or tell me what they have achieved so far.

1.) store modules just in the active directory

PyInstaller is not designed for this, so I doubt it would work. (But I would be eager to know, if somebody has done this.)

2.) store modules in a separate zip file

This could be done easily: Just add the zip-file to to sys.path (and make sure zimimporer is included into the bundle.)

Concerning 2.)
OK I can import zipimporter and create a zip file. No problem.
but how can I remove modules from the pyz archive, that's attached to the executable. is there any python module (or if not, a scriptable command line tool) allowing me to modify this archive?
