Have you tried freezing from within a virtual env where PyQT5 is not
available? This might be a bit tricky to have Pyside and mathplot in there.

What exaclty do you mean with "no longer works"? Modules added to
excludes should be still excluded. If not, we have a problem. Please
test with the current development version.
