I've followed quite some exchanges on python-dev, the "pronouncements" from Guido were quite rare, and (as far as I've seen) they were always a way of summarizing a consensus. During posts and posts, people had weighed up the pros and cons, given arguments and counter-arguments, provided use cases, personal experience... so minds converged. Nothing like that here, it's just a cold (and barren) war between Reasons and too-spiritually-evolved-to-be-understood-by-mere-humans Dogmas.
